![]()
What is Noel’s last name?
It is Noel Pagan.
Where is he from?
New York City, of Cuban-American ancestry.
What is his most famous track, and why?
Well, it’s definitely “Silent Morning” which, when it was released in the summer of 1987, it estaboished Noel as the artist to which all future freestyle artists would be compared.
What do fans like about “Silent Morning”?
Dancers in clubs loved the killer beat, and Noel’s vocals, at one pained and poignantly sexy. It also contains features of mid-1980s European-style synthesizer-pop.
What did he release next?
Also in the summer of 1987, he released “Like A Child,” ensuring that he would not be a one-hit wonder like so many other performers.
What else did he unleash?
The other 9 tracks, like “Change” and “City Streets”, generally follow the successful formula of Silent Morning and Like a Child, with sensual Latin percussion, heart-rending lyrics and vocals, and a tight production.
Who produced Noel’s best tracks?
They were produced by “Little” Louie Vega and Jellybean Benitez.
Was the Noel’s voice I heard on “How Could You Have The Heart”?
That’s right. Girls Club asked him to cameo on that track in 1990.
Can you please tell me about “The Question”?
Another great song! Noel worked on this dancefloor-filling megahit with Tony Moran. Many fans claim the story told in the song is a continuation of the story told in “Silent Morning.”
Does Noel still make Freestyle music?
Nope. After contributing to the comilation “Concept of One” in 1993, he switched to pop-rock with an album titled “Hearts On Fire.”
Did Hearts on Fire succeed?
Not very much, even though one of its tracks was featured on Baywatch and it was well-written and exhibited his wide vocal range.
Why didn’t it do well?
His established fans expected him to stick to Freestyle.
What kind of music did he switch to then?
Ever a chameleon, in August 2001, Noel released trance and freestyle versions of his best-loved songs.
