“Fantasy Girl” Johnny O
Okay, this is a little bit of a trick. At least, I think everybody will agree Johnny O is a “king of freestyle”, and “Fantasy Girl” is a great example of what freestyle music is. I may be wrong.
Is “Fantasy Girl” by Johnny O considered freestyle or not? Please leave your comments below.

What does the “O” stand for?
It stands for his last name, Ortiz, reflecting his Puerto Rican and Dominican ancestry.
Where was he born?
He was born and raised in Brooklyn. Then he moved to Ft. Lauderdale for 16 years, and then Orlando, Florida.
What made him famous?
In 1988, he recorded “Fantasy Girl,” which sold platinum and is today one of the most famous and played freestyle records around the world.
What kept Johnny O busy since then?
He performed in concert with top acts, such as Boys to Men. He has also appeared on TV shows and many music videos. He released 8 albums, most of which were hits underground. He even remade Queensryche’s Silen Lucidity, with a video meant to draw attention to child abuse. Currently, he is on a German label, ZYX Records, and has recorded what he calls his “latest and greatest album.”
Why is he the most passionate man in freestyle?
In interviews, he has said that he loves to dance to his own music as he sings it, as a way of “living” the music.
My friend calls Stevie B the King of Freestyle, but I think that Johhny O should have that title!
Well, you’re both right! Fans are evenly divided as to who deserves the throne.
Wait a minute! When I was in Canada, I listened to a radio show hosted by Johnny O. I thought you said he lives in Florida?!
He does. That’s a different Johhny O in Canada.
