Fascination
Who is Fascination?
Her real name is Elsie Rodriguez. She was born in the Bronx, New York City.
How did she get into music?
As a girl, she always dreamed that she’d eventually become a successful performer, so she diligently studied the arts such as dance, drama, and music.
So, how did that get into Freestlye?
Her big break into Freestyle came as a result of dancing. She was dancing in a NYC club called the Copacabana, where she was intoruced to Todd Terry, a producer.
What was her first release?
It was “Why Ya Wanna Go,” released by Vinylmania Records, which was followed by another huge hit, “Don’t You Think It’s Time.”
What happened next?
Fascination was signed to Lumar Records which, in 1990, released “Remember,” a song that hit Billboard’s Dance Charts. That hit led to a big endorsement deal with Coca-Cola.
Was that the end for her?
Not at all! She had a few hits in the 1990s, such as “I Want You Back,” “Still Miss You,” and “Wasn’t Love.” She’s currently touring as part of the Forever Freestyle Tour and Freestyle Extravaganza.
