Who is Corina?
She is Corina Katt Ayala, raised in New York City by Puerto Rican parents.
What led her into the music business?
As a child, she loved to entertain, and went through years of formal ballet, voice and theatre training. That prepared her for the music business, where she released her first three dance songs on Cutting Records.
What songs were those?
Her first hits were “Out of Control” (first hit of producer Carlos Berrios), “Give Me Back My Heart” and “Loving You Like Crazy,” after which she released an album on Cutting/Atlantic. That led to 3 more hits: “Temptation” (written by Frank Reyes), “Whispers” and “Now That You’re Gone”. Corina was credited with reviving Freestyle music.
What else did she do in the 1980s?
She starred with Latin singer Marc Anthony in 1988′s East Side Story.
Then what happened?
One might say she caught the acting bug, playing artist Frida Kahlo in 2000′s Cradle Will Rock, as well as appearing in Doors of the Unknown, Devil’s Kiss, Big Apple and Funny Valentine.
