Who is Charlie Rock?
Charlie “Rock” Jimenez made it big writing and producing freestyle music hits and is now in the film industry.
How did Charlie Rock begin his music career?
He worked as a DJ in New York’s city parks. He often partnered with old school hip hop legend Pumpkin.
Then what happened?
With Silver Fox and Larry D, Charlie Rock formed a rap group, Fantasy 3. They released “It’s your Rock”, which is even today a DJ classic. He then took his knowledge and experience and merged it with his love for dance music to write and produce Freestyle music.
What freestyle songs did Charlie Rock write and produce?
He made Johnny O and Cynthia’s “Dream Boy Dream Girl,” which became the top selling freestyle record of all time. He wrote and produced “Forever Yours” by Face. He also wrote the award-winning “What Goes Around Comes Around” for Giggles, for whom he also wrote and produced a whole album.
Didn’t he record some of his own music?
That’s right. His own singles included “She’s My Baby Love,” “I Like My Music Loud,” “Listen to Your Heart / Get Up and Dance,” “Missing You,” and “True Love.”
What has Charlie Rock been doing more recently?
He is writing screenplays and producing film soundtracks.
