Body & Style

Body & Style – Kings of “Old School” Freestyle

Body & Soul - 100% Pure Freestyle (Continuous Dj Mix) - Listen to My Cries

Who comprised Body & Style?
They were Cjay and Sandro Javier, both from Spanish Harlem in New York City.

What song is Cjay’s favorite?
He still loves “There’s no Reason to Cry,” by Judy Torres. He calls it the National Anthem of Freestyle. He loved it so much that his goal was to use the same producers on his own music, and he acheived that goal.

What was Body & Style’s biggest song?
“Untouchable” was popular, but not as beloved as “Listen to my Cries.”

Oh, I love that song! Can you tell me more about it?
Sure! Well, it was released in 1988 by Micmac Records, written, produced, arranged, engineered, and mixed by a group that was mostly composed of Elvin Molina, Mickey Garcia (the man behind MicMac Records), and Sammy Toro.

To what does Cjay attribute his success?
He always shoots for the highest star, “knowing that if I miss, I will at least be among them.”

Enough about Cjay. Tell me about Sandro.
Sandro Javier, like Cjay, believes in reaching for the stars from a young age. His skills at writing at will and expressing his feelings propelled Body & Style into fame. He acknowedges the support he gets from fans and peers as another key to success and really wants there to be a grammy award category for freestyle music.
